[Main Composition] Enrofloxacin
[Description] This drug is a white or light yellow powder.
[Drug Interactions] (1) It has a synergistic effect when administered in combination with aminoglycosides and broad-spectrum penicillins.
(2) Heavy metal ions such as Ca2+, Mg2+, Fe3+, AL3+ can chelate with this drug, reducing absorption.
(3) Combined use with theophylline or caffeine inhibits the metabolism of the latter two substances, causing abnormally elevated blood concentrations of theophylline and caffeine, and even triggering theophylline poisoning.
(4) This drug inhibits hepatic drug-metabolizing enzymes. When administered together with hepatically metabolized drugs, it may reduce their clearance rates and raise their blood concentrations.
(5) Probenecid suppresses the renal tubular secretion and excretion of enrofloxacin, prolonging its half-life.
[Indications] This drug is a quinolone antibacterial agent, indicated for bacterial diseases and mycoplasma infections in chickens and racing pigeons.
[Dosage and Administration] Calculated based on this drug. Mixing into water: 0.25~0.75 g of this drug per liter of water for chicken, twice daily for 3~5 consecutive days; 2.5 g of this drug per liter of water for racing pigeons for 3~5 consecutive days.
[Adverse Reactions] (1) It may cause cartilage degeneration in young animals, resulting in lameness and pain.
(2) Gastrointestinal adverse reactions include vomiting, abdominal pain and abdominal distension.
(3) Cutaneous adverse reactions include erythema, pruritus, urticaria, photosensitivity, etc.
[Precautions] (1) Do not administer to hens laying eggs for human consumption during the laying period.
(2) Contraindicated in silkie chickens.
[Withdrawal Period] 8 days for chickens.
