Florfenicol
By binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, it inhibits the synthesis of bacterial proteins (blocking peptidyl transferase activity), thereby preventing bacterial growth and reproduction. It belongs to antibacterial antibiotics, but at high concentrations, it exhibits bactericidal effects on some bacteria (such as Escherichia coli and Pasteurella). Its advantage is that it does not bind to the plasmid encoded resistance genes of bacteria, and bacteria that are resistant to chloramphenicol and methicillin may still be sensitive.
