Qingdao Port Panya Terminal Wins the Zhan Tianyou Award for Civil Engineering in China
Recently, the 2026 Academic Annual Conference of the China Civil Engineering Society and the 21st China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award Ceremony were held in Chengdu. At the conference, the "Qingdao Port Qianwan Port Area Pan-Asia Terminal Project," primarily submitted by CCCC Water Transport Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd., was awarded the 21st China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award.
It is understood that the project integrates cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, artificial intelligence, and 5G, driving progress in key core technologies of intelligent management and control in China's smart port construction. It has created an ecosystem of original research products with international competitiveness for smart ports, providing innovative solutions for the intelligent upgrading of ports. The project has achieved a leapfrog development in system functions and performance, as well as in software and equipment related to electrical control and physical sensing components, surpassing foreign products. This will further enhance China's voice in the global port industry, occupy the commanding height of core technology development for smart ports, and promote high-level technological self-reliance and self-improvement in China's port sector. As the nation's first fully domestically produced and self-developed automated container terminal, the project has set successive new records for average single crane operational efficiency held by Qingdao Port since its production began in December 2023. As of December 3, 2025, this record has been raised to 62.62 natural containers per hour.
