COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation plans to enter into a RMB 1 billion shipbuilding contract with Qidong Offshore Engineering.
On April 16, COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation Co., Ltd. (referred to as "COSCO Shipping Energy") announced that the company and its wholly-owned subsidiary Hainan COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation Co., Ltd. intend to sign a construction contract with Qidong COSCO Shipping Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Qidong Marine Engineering") for two Panamax crude oil tankers, with a total project investment of approximately 1.043 billion yuan.
According to the announcement, the contract price (including tax) for the above two Panamax crude oil tankers is 509 million yuan per vessel, and both are planned to be delivered and put into operation in 2028. The two newly built vessels will adopt clean energy systems such as biofuel and methanol fuel reserves, and will be equipped with advanced energy-saving and intelligent systems.
This new ship investment will effectively supplement COSCO Shipping Energy's future transportation capacity. After the new ships are delivered and put into operation, they will further optimize the fleet's age structure, maintain the stable scale of the domestic oil tanker fleet, balance the needs of domestic and international crude oil transportation businesses, and continuously consolidate market share.
