Kazakhstan Proposes Reallocating Meat Import Quotas, Opening 20% to New Suppliers

According to Kazinform, the allocation rules for certain meat import tariff quotas among foreign trade operators in Kazakhstan may face adjustments. The relevant draft order is currently open for public comment on the "Open Laws" portal.

Under the draft, meat import tariff quotas are proposed to be allocated between existing suppliers and new suppliers at a ratio of 80% and 20%, respectively.

The document indicates plans to re-approve the rules for allocating certain meat import tariff quotas among participants in foreign trade activities, and to re-divide the quota shares between existing suppliers and new suppliers.

Specifically, existing suppliers are expected to receive 80% of the quotas, while new suppliers receive 20%.

The draft was developed in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan for the state registration of normative legal acts, as well as the minutes of the meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy and Participation in International Economic Organizations held on June 5, 2026.

Public discussion of the draft will continue until September 9.
